• ADD Category is the part of screen, which is conveniently linked to from the top of the table of categories, allowing you to create a new Category.
• There are four pieces of information associated with each new Category:
• Name
• Slug
• Parent
• Description.

1. Click on Post->Categories option in WordPress.

• Next to this, the Categories page is displayed as shown below.

Following are the details of the fields on Categories

1. Name : Enter the unique name of categories.
2. Slug : The Category slug must be unique. It is specified in the category URL. It should be in lower case.

1. Parent : By selecting the parent category from dropdown, we can set the particular category as sub-category or can keep it as None.
2. Description : We can add brief description of our category which is optional.
3. Add New Category : Clicking on this button we can fill all the information about Categories.

1. After clicking on Add New Category, the new created category will get displayed as shown above. Here we have given our Category name as “Wikitechy”.
