- INS stands for Indian Navy Ship.
- The first Naval Force was established in India when India was under the British Empire.
- Formerly Indian navy was called Royal Indian Marine, Royal Indian Navy, etc.
- The Royal navy is that the precursor of the Indian Navy, so until today, Indian Navy follows some customs of the royal Navy.
